Lent 2021

Join us on the journey of Lent! This special time of year calls us to greater self-discipline in our piety and service as we prepare our hearts for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I hope you’ll make plans to join in on as many of the following opportunities as possible!

We look forward to seeing you at church!

Call to Discipline: Daily Prayer

This year, we’re calling each other to a habit of daily prayer. There are four ways to engage in daily prayer. Pick as many or as few as you’d like to engage in! Contact Rev. Ted Goshorn for personal direction or for questions as we work toward this goal of daily prayer: tgoshorn83@gmail.com

Adult Confirmation Class 2.0 | Begins online, time of meeting TBD by participants

Open to those who have previously attended and completed the Adult Confirmation Class. This class will go deeper into church history and prayer practices, building off the information gleaned from the first Adult Confirmation Class. Space is also limited so be sure to sign-up before February 15.

Special Service Dates
Please note for all services: It is our hope and desire to have services in person after Ash Wednesday. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for the latest information.

Ash Wednesday | February 17, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
This year’s service will be published online and done jointly with First Presbyterian Church and their pastor, Karen Cheek. Be on the look out for a special mailing from the church with instructions and all you’ll need to participate from home!

Palm Sunday | Sunday, March 28
Our traditional celebration of Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The children of our church will help us by leading a processional waving palm branches. Join us!

A Service of Tenebrae | Maundy Thursday, April 1, at 7:00 p.m. or Good Friday, April 2, at 12:30 p.m.
This service walks us through, in powerful fashion, the story of the crucifixion. It calls to mind all that Jesus went through for us, preparing our hearts for the glory that awaits on Easter Sunday. This service will be the same at both times; simply pick the one that best works for your schedule.

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Sunday | Sunday, April 4 | Two Services
First Service | Sunrise Service | 6:30 a.m. Stuckey Timberland Pavilion
Bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs and come watch the sun rise over the lake by the Stuckey Pavilion as we celebrate Easter together. This service will be more casual, feature communion as a part of the service, and have coffee service. Should the weather turn inclement, we will move inside the pavilion. Social distancing protocols are relaxed: family units should sit six feet apart but masks are not required. After the service, we will have the opportunity to picnic and fellowship together. Bring breakfast foods for you and your family to enjoy!

Second Service | 11:00 a.m. Service | Sanctuary and Online
Come and join in the joy as we celebrate Easter in our Sanctuary. This service will feature a standard order of worship and include Confirmation. In the ancient church, new members were baptized and received into membership only on Easter Sunday, so this marks the perfect occasion to recognize and receive our middle schoolers who have completed the confirmation journey. This service will utilize current social distancing protocols and be streamed online.
Please note: registration is required for the 11:00 a.m. Easter service as we expect the sanctuary to fill to its current social distance capacity. To register or for more information, click HERE.
