This Week

Good Afternoon,

I had a great meeting this morning with our newest staff person. Teresa Goolsby will be our new Maid/Nursery Attendant and she will be starting in the nursery this Sunday. As I have been saying, we will still need a rotation of nursery volunteers that will be available in case Teresa is overwhelmed with children.

As I announced yesterday the United Methodist Men will be meeting for an organizational meeting at 6:00 PM on September 13th at Trinity Oaks for a fish fry. We will be discussing future meetings (day-time) and electing officers.

Bishop Graves will be holding an informational meeting for the Laity of our District on September 11th (4:00-6:00 PM) at the Perry UMC. If there are some who would like to attend but don’t want to drive I’ll volunteer my services to drive you in the church van. Please let the church office know if you would like to ride the van. We would meet in the church parking lot at 2:45 PM.

Once again yesterday your worship bulletin included a volunteer survey which lists different areas of ministry here that you might want to be a part of. I’m asking that you take this seriously, pray about it, fill it out and get it back to the church office. You can also drop it in the offering plates on Sunday. Since our attendance has been so low the past few Sundays we will continue to make these surveys available to you.

There will be some special music during our 11:00 AM service this week. Richard Woods and David Peavey, both members at the Hawkinsville FUMC will be here to play for our Call to Worship and our Special Music during the worship service.

A survey will be going in the mail this week to every member of our congregation. In your mailing will be a letter from me, the survey for you to answer, and a self-addressed stamped envelope for you to return it back to the office.

It was brought to my attention that one of your former pastors, Russ Elkins, is having to spend quite a bit of money for out of pocket expenses for his cancer treatment so we are going to be collecting a love offering to help Russ out. If you would like to give towards this designate your offering (love offering – Elkins) and bring it to the office or drop it in the offering plate. The deadline for this offering will be September 11th.

The Church Office will be closed September 5th for Labor Day.

I will be at the Frozen Bean for prayer 9:00-10:00 AM every Tuesday.

Sowing for a Great Awakening,
Pastor Rick
