Hurricane Harvey is wreaking havoc in coastal Texas, pouring rain over Houston and low lying areas as it remains somewhat stationary in track. Please be in prayer for those affected by this disaster, for relief workers, for the national guard, and for the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Our connection as United Methodists gives us opportunity to give to help with relief efforts. UMCOR, the crisis response agency of the United Methodist Church, is currently taking up funds for their relief efforts. If you would like to make a donation to UMCOR’s relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey, please visit https://secure3.convio.net/gbgm/site/SPageNavigator/umcor_donate.html?type=1002&project=901670 or write the church a check and mark the memo line with UMCOR Advance #901670.
Additionally, visit http://www.umcor.org/umcor/resources/news-stories/2017/august/0825umcorpreparesforharvey for additional resources to learn how UMCOR and the Texas, Rio Texas, and Louisiana Annual Conferences are responding to the disaster.
As we learn of other disaster relief efforts, we’ll keep the website posted. Stay tuned!
